The week nine AVCA Top 25 coaches poll is out, which you can find here.
Another week and another Top 25 with not much changing as we head into the last week of the regular season. Calvin keeps the top spot with 65 first place votes and 1738 total points. Calvin is followed by JWU (RI), Wittenberg, Colorado College and CMS. The other 5 first place votes went to JWU (2) and Wittenber (3).
MIT got bounced from the Top 25 to make room for the hottest team in DIII, Birmingham-Southern. The big riser for this week was actually Birmingham-Southern who entered the poll at 21 and I can’t begin to tell you how strange that is for as late in the year as it is. The biggest fall was 3 spots that occurred to a few teams.
Looking at the West Region we still have 6 teams in the Top 25 and 3 in the Top 10. The ordering is Colorado College (4), CMS (5), Trinity (9), Pacific Lutheran (16), UT-Tyler (19) and UMHB (23). In the receiving votes category, we have UT-Dallas, Cal Lutheran and Southwestern all from the West Region. As a reminder, you can find my Top 25 here. This week I predicted the West Region RAC ranking, which you can find here.
With the AVCA dropping MIT they now have only 3 teams they have ranked that I don’t (a decrease of one). Those teams are Pacific Lutheran, Ohio Norther and Ithaca. The three teams I have instead are St. Benedict, St. Thomas and Carnegie Mellon.
We had 55 actual voters this week (down from 62 last week).
