Boo! Now give me some candy!
Whoa. Whitman takes set one over Whitworth 25-22. Remember, a loss by Whitworth puts PLU in the driver’s seat for the Pool A bid. Whitworth had 14 attack errors on 8 blocks by Whitman.
Whitman with a 25-16 win in set two. Up 2-0.
Whitworth storms back and takes set three. Schmautz with 17 kills.
Whitworth forces a fifth set.
Wow…just wow. Whitman upsets Whitworth in the 5th set 15-10. Schmautz went back to serve at 8-8 and never got back to the front row for Whitworth. She finished with 19 kills. Whitman had 21 blocks in the match. Sierra Myers with 13 total blocks and Cali Anderson with 13 kills.
What this means…
Whitworth is now one win back of PLU. PLU has two matches to play and Whitworth one. Whitworth plays the last place Linfield team at home. PLU has George Fox and Lewis & Clark both on the road. Both teams are in the bottom half of the standings but so was Whitman. Playing on the road is tough in the NWC. Bottom line, PLU wins both of their matches then they win the Pool A bid. Lose either one and Whitworth most likely takes it.

Missed a couple of matches yesterday. I got wrapped up in the conference tournament previews, which need to come out today.
This match is actually a big one. This is really Whitworth’s best chance to lose and open the door for Pacific Lutheran. I don’t see it happening but the NWC title is pretty much on the line in this one. If Whitworth wins, I really believe they have the title and the Pool A bid locked up.
