The week ten AVCA Top 25 coaches poll is out, which you can find here.
Another week and another Top 25 with little changing. Calvin continues to pick up the first place votes and now has 68 and sits in the top spot in the poll. JWU (RI) has the other two and sits in second place. They are followed by Wittenberg, Colorado College and CMS.
No one got bounced from the poll this week. The poll was so static that the biggest riser was Emory moving 2 spots from 11 to 9. Two teams fell the most (3 spots) – Trinity and Ithaca. It’s interesting to note that all 24 eligible teams from the poll will be playing in the NCAA Tournament. Pacific Lutheran looked to be the odd team out but they jumped through the sliver of a hold Whitworth gave them to take the Pool A bid. (Remember that #19 UT-Tyler is not eligible for the tournament as they reclassify to DII.)
The #1 seeds from the tournament go to ranks 1, 2, 6, 8, 10, 17, 23 and 25.
Looking at the West Region we still have 6 teams in the Top 25 but now only 2 in the Top 10. The ordering is Colorado College (4), CMS (5), Trinity (12), Pacific Lutheran (16), UT-Tyler (19) and UMHB (22). In the receiving votes category, we have Southwestern, Cal Lutheran and UT-Dallas all from the West Region. I didn’t do a Top 25 this week or a west region ranking due to all of my Selection Day activities.
I didn’t count the voters this week but I imagine there wasn’t a huge turnout.
