Coach Rob Frost has decided to step down as head coach of Mary Hardin-Baylor. I’m currently flying back from vacation and will have more information tomorrow.
Coach Frost has had a lot of success at UMHB and the team is coming off a regional final loss to the eventual national champions.
This is now the third head coach opening in the west region.
Update (1/29/19) – Not a lot to update, really. I haven’t seen an article from the school on this, yet. I’m hearing that this was just a family decision and this might be the third opening in the West Region where the outgoing coach left voluntarily without another job lined up.
Update (1/30/19) – Including the comment in this article, there are a couple of others that have indicated that Coach Frost will be taking the open DI Head Coaching position at Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina. The Runnin’ Bulldogs play in the Big South Conference and went 1-15 in conference and 7-22 overall. Now, I would be neglectful if I didn’t remind people that Coach Frost actually took a DI position (Abilene Christian) back in 2014 only to reconsider and return to UMHB a month later. I don’t see history repeating itself here, however.
