La Verne Coaching Change

The first line of La Verne’s Head Coach Jenna Panatier bio says, “[She] wears many hats for the Leopards.” Today, a source close to the school has informed me that one of those hats can be hung up as the school has asked Coach Penatier to take on more of an administrative roll with the university. Coach Panatier is also currently the Senior Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator with the school. She would have been going into her 9th season as head coach of the Leopards. My source also indicated that current Associate Head Coach Jeff Hendershot will take over full-time duties on an interim basis at least at the beginning.

During Coach Panatier’s 8 seasons, the Leopards made the NCAA Tournament in 2012, 2014 and 2016. They were also, in my opinion, one of the more frequently snubbed teams by the selection committee during this time. I had the great pleasure to be in the stands for their 2016 match against Southwestern as they lost a 5-set heart breaker to the Pirates. As a Pirates’ fan, I just remember hoping that Kelsi Robinson would stay off the front row. On the flip side, I didn’t have as much fun in the stands at La Verne watching them beat my Pirates in 4-sets in the opening match last season.

If the news ends up being true, I certainly wish Coach Panatier nothing but the best in her new roles with the university. I have yet to see anything from the school on this change so stay tuned for more information. I have reached out to the La Verne Athletics Communication Director for confirmation.
