Update: I’m enjoying the announcer for the Dallas/Austin College match calling AC Head Coach Ed Garza, “Ed Garcia”.
Note that the Dallas/Austin College Live Stats are backwards. Still tied 1-1 but it’s really 1-1.
Chicago destroyed Carnegie Mellon in the first set 25-8. Yikes! WUSTL takes the first set from Emory. The UAA is sort of fun. Emory comes back in the second 28-26.
Austin College up 2-1 but Dallas has a good lead early in the fourth set.
Chicago with an easy three-set victory over Carnegie Mellon. They are at a different level than most teams in the nation.
Dallas forces a 5th set against Austin College. Late comeback by Dallas falls short. Austin College will play Trinity tomorrow.
WUSTL forces Emory to a 5th set but loses. UTD up 2-0 on Concordia.
UTD makes the finals. 3-1 over Concordia.
Southwestern comes back from 21-24 to win the third set 26-24 and takes the match. I’ll be honest, I thought TLU would win this as they’ve been playing great.
LeTourneau is all over UMHB in the first set and are up 1-0. UMHB win the next three. We’ve got a UMHB/UTD final tomorrow.
Good crowd at George Fox as the Bruins forced a 5th set but lose to NWC champions Whitworth.
Linfield jumps out to a 2-0 lead on Pacific but the Boxers come back with the reverse sweep to win the match 3-2.
Tomorrow begins the insanity. I’ll be watching a bunch of finals and updating the site. I’ll also be looking to see if the regional rankings might change based on the tournament results. The biggest loss nationally that might impact at-large selections might be Wellesley in the New England Region. I had them in but they lost to Emerson yesterday. Such a weak schedule but good criteria numbers so it probably won’t matter.

Random Thoughts: Tournament links are provided in the name, when available.
Over in the ASC, the division winners get there first run out in the tournament. There is no safety net this year if you lose in the ASC as double-elimination is gone. Sort of a different pressure and it will be interesting to see if that changes how teams play.
The SCAC Tournament gets started with two matches that should be close. I will not be able to travel down to TLU for this one so catching all of the matches on the stream. I’m sure the team will still be able to hear me from Fort Worth.
We can’t forget about the NWC. The big match tonight is Whitworth/George Fox. Can George Fox pull off the sweep of the title winners? Bragging rights the only thing on the line but this should be a great match. If I’m Whitworth I treat this like a tournament final as it’s the closest they are going to get to NCAA Tournament play.
