Welcome to the first Weekly Wrap-Up of the season. I typically do a Sunday wrap-up of the events around the West Region and will touch on the national scene at times, too. Heck, I was even doing a weekly podcast that focused nationally but maybe that will come when teams start playing more. Since I…… Continue reading Weekly Wrap-Up

Thursday, Jan. 29 Match Day!
Updates: Had to leave you high and dry tonight. Sorry about that, but I was away from electronic devices. Howard Payne did get the sweep of the double-header tonight winning the first match 3-0 and taking the second 3-1. Mya Ross had 38.5 points through the two matches to lead the team. She hit 0.329…… Continue reading Thursday, Jan. 29 Match Day!
Looks like Howard Payne snuck in a non-conference double-header for tomorrow. They will go against NAIA Jarvis Christian who also played LeTourneau last week. I’ll make sure to have a “Match Day!” up for them. The Heartland played another round of conference matches yesterday. Hanover and Mt. Saint Joseph split their double-header. Bluffton swept their…… Continue reading More Volleyball
In my last musings post I mentioned that the 2018 EADA data is out. EADA is the public data that indicates how each school spends their money on sports. The data includes all divisions and all sports but, obviously, we’ll focus on DIII volleyball here. Total expense is the first column I like looking at…… Continue reading EADA (2018)
The Heartland Conference is playing volleyball and although, we in the West may not be up on every team, we should at least know that Transylvania is coming off an outstanding 2019 season finishing 28-5. One of the teams that was on the other side of the standing’s sheet was Bluffton who finished 7-24 in…… Continue reading Sunday Musing
I was wondering what the conferences were going to do about their preseason predictions and stuff. Well, it looks like the ASC is business as usual as they announced theirs on Tuesday. I waited a day so as not to upstage their first match of the year. No big surprises as UT-Dallas was the unanimous…… Continue reading ASC Predictions
Tuesday, Jan. 19 Match Day!
Updates: Caught the end of the first set and spent a few minutes trying to figure out why the sound wasn’t working on my computer. Figured it was the feed when the set was over and the commercial had sound. Hate it when I can’t hear the sport being played. Weird seeing the masks on…… Continue reading Tuesday, Jan. 19 Match Day!
Just a quick musings to remind everyone that we have a West Region match tomorrow!?! LeTourneau is getting things started quickly with a non-conference double-header against Jarvis Christian. My “Match Day!” post will drop at 2 a.m. tomorrow morning and after a year I had to go remind myself what I included in those posts.…… Continue reading Monday Musings
Jan Gentry Musing
I was surprised to search my site and find that I mentioned Jan Gentry (NCAA Associate Directory of Championships and Alliances) in only 6 articles. I also don’t believe I was being negative in any of them. But, when it comes to Ms. Gentry, I do have a negative opinion of her. I mention all…… Continue reading Jan Gentry Musing
Although the spring semester hasn’t started and schools are not back in session, we do have volleyball on the horizon. Kind of ironic as the Covid numbers are the worst they have been since the pandemic has started, but we do have three of the four West Region conferences moving forward with their volleyball plans.…… Continue reading Volleyball!?!
