The SCAC has announced that they will be adding Concordia and University of the Ozarks (U of O) at the beginning of the 2024-25 academic year. Both schools are currently affiliated with the ASC although the U of O doesn’t have a volleyball program at this time. It was previously announced that McMurry (also from…… Continue reading SCAC Expanding

NCAA Committee Notes
We will play a little catch-up in this article as the NCAA has had some recent DIII meetings so let’s report on what’s going on in everyone’s favorite organization. The DIII Strategic Planning and Finance Committee notes can be found here. Nothing too interesting there except that the note about how DIII will receive a…… Continue reading NCAA Committee Notes
April Musing (Updated)
I probably need to check the NCAA site for notes on their management meeting. It just happened and there are typically some proposed rules that get mentioned that impact our sport. Just being lazy, which is nice. Still working on the 2023 recruits so any help is appreciated! I feel like I’ve done the least…… Continue reading April Musing (Updated)
East/West Challenge
I haven’t really looked around for schedules, but I’m sure some teams are starting to post them. My Latvian hackers did uncover the East/West Classic 2023 schedule so I thought I’d write about that to fill all of our time. To start with, what the heck are we calling this tournament? Classic? Challenge? Battle? I…… Continue reading East/West Challenge
Savannah Cox Named Redlands Coach
For those that follow me on Twitter, this was the news I was waiting for… Redlands announced that they have hired Savannah Cox to be their new Volleyball Head Coach. Savannah was the Assistant Volleyball Coach at Pacific University starting in 2020. Sure, some blamed the pandemic on her hire but I’m assured by my…… Continue reading Savannah Cox Named Redlands Coach
March Musing
In case you missed it, I did my first podcast in over a year. It’s about the Trinity/Southwestern move to the SAA. I sound a little down in the podcast but I’m okay in real life. I was going through the recruits awhile back and one of the players was from White Settlement, Texas. At…… Continue reading March Musing
Trinity/Southwestern Moving to SAA (Updated)
This morning Trinity announced that they (along with Southwestern) are moving to the SAA effective by the fall of 2025. I wrote about this possibility last month, which included a denial by the Southwestern Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Ken Ralph. I would certainly go back and look at my article for some of the reasoning.…… Continue reading Trinity/Southwestern Moving to SAA (Updated)
Transfer Portal
I have written some blurbs about the transfer portal recently but for the most part I haven’t really given it too much thought in the DIII volleyball world. While doing the recruit updates, I had a coach tell me that they really don’t look at the portal at all while another said that they’ll have…… Continue reading Transfer Portal
NWC Adds Championship Tournament!
Boom!!!!! The only volleyball conference in DIII without a conference tournament has decided to add it to their schedule starting this fall. Details are still being worked out but the plan is for the regular season champion to host the four-team tournament. The top seed will play the 4-seed with the 2-seed playing the 3-seed.…… Continue reading NWC Adds Championship Tournament!
HSU Coach Shelton Steps Down
We still have the Redlands position open but a second coaching position in Region X has also opened up as HSU has announced that Coach Breann Shelton has stepped down today. Coach Shelton finished up 3-years as the head volleyball coach and had to guide her program through the COVID years finishing 28-33. The article…… Continue reading HSU Coach Shelton Steps Down
